My Life since 1966: I went to the University
of SD for a couple of years, then got married. My ex-husband was hired by
Western Airlines so we moved to Sioux Falls for a couple of years, then
transferred to Las Vegas for five years and back to Sioux Falls for about
eight years. Our last transfer was to Salt Lake City. That was 22 years
ago. I never thought I'd stay here but I've grown to love it - the mountains
are beautiful and climate is great. I have a wonderful son, Chris, who will
be 37 this week. He and his partner, Michelle, own an advertising company
here in Salt Lake called COGBOX - www.cogbox.com. He is absolutely the best
son anyone could have. I've been involved in the health insurance field
for years selling and servicing group policies for small companies. I work
for Integrated Insurance Systems and really enjoy it. I guess my main passion
is helping animals - I've been volunteering for the Humane Society of Utah
for about 12 years. I spend a lot of weekends helping out at the shelter
- I also foster sick cats and kittens and find homes for them once they're
well or in the case of little kittens, old enough. I have four pets of my
own - 2 cats, Lenore and Lucy, an old dog (a shepherd/afghan mix), Charlie,
who I absolutely love and my new puppie, Tucker, a mini-dauschund. What
a difference there is between my 15 year old dog and this new puppy - I
take Tucker to the dog park near my home almost every night after work just
to wear him out. He loves playing with all the dogs there. I don't know
what I'd do without my pets!
I divorced my husband about six years ago - I finally realized he wasn't
going to change so at 50 decided it was now or never. I've never been happier.
I've been dating a nice guy for quite a long time now.
I get back to Sioux Falls fairly often as my parents, sisters (Marty and
Alli) and their families live there now. My brother, Jeff, and his family
just moved to Omaha. My sisters and I take an annual sister trip together
- in fact, we're leaving for Savannah and Charleston tomorrow morning. We've
been doing it for probably 10 years now and have gone to some fantastic
places - our favorite so far is New England. We have such a great time together.
I'm really hoping to get back for the reunion and seeing everyone. It's
just unbelievable to think that it's been 40 years! |
